Pretty much anywhere in the US that I have been people can tell immediately. It's not just that they know I'm from Ohio, but they specifically know northeast Ohio. Can anyone tell me what it is in the way i talk that tips people off?

Answers only please from those who are not from the area.

  1. I am from Columbus, and I live in upstate NY. People here tell me I have an accent. (Before I moved here, the only time I heard that I have one is when I was visiting my sisters in Kentucky).

To answer your question, I don't think Ohioans have accents.
