Do people hang out on the beach by themselves?

Do people hang out on the beach themselves? In Jersey? In September?

I'd love to go to the beach as much as I can maybe in hopes of meeting people somehow. But basically, I did go to a beach with some friends in August. I met a hot girl who was by herself tanning, relaxing, and reading a book. So I asked her how that was being by herself and she enjoyed it and kind of showed that it was an awesome thing to do. I still am asking the question because she was from a different state working in mine and that made me wonder if she was by herself b/c she didn't know anyone and yet I don't know anyone either. I had two jobs until last month b/c I got a regular full time job now so I didn't have much of a summer. And my good friends don't go much to the beach except for one cool dude who I've been only gettin back in touch with him recently (we're all from North Jersey or North Central)

So now it's September. Do people still tan and relax on the beach if the weather is hot out? And do they do it by themselves? I'd be totally interested in going by myself various Saturdays if it's still hot out and relaxing, read a good book. And I've love to meet singles. Yeah I deserve relaxing time but I also deserve to date a hot girl so the main reason to go even though I'd be fully engaged in reading and taking care of myself is to meet some girls somehow.

Answers please and even if you never went by yourself but have seen people do it or think it's a cool idea, respond!!!

Especially in California.  I would go to the beach to read, to write and to keep my eyes open for heavenly bodies.  Best time is during the week when the beaches are not invaded by children.

Yea of course. In summer I go down if I need to clear out my mind, sometimes i do my homework. I thinks it just relaxing

Most people go out on the beach themselves, its very relaxing and I guess is a nice place to meet new people.

I've never been to jersey before, but if the weather is warm/nice then I guess it would look normal. But going out on the beach in the freezing cold is a little weird..
