Do people hate hippies?

I have never been to the US and was born in 1980. I don't know well a bout hippies. But for the last couple of years, I've seen some cultural refrences to hippies in some American animated TV shows, such as The Simpsons, Futurama and South park.

According to their dipictions, hippies are lazy, dirty, sexually dissolute and drug addicts. Is this just for the comedy or what the majority of Americans believe?

When the Simpsons, Futurama and South Park speak out against hippies they're usually being ironic.

haha, I don't blame you for thinking that.

Some people do, but I personally don't,I actually have a friend that's one but, he doesn't do drugs,he's not lazy & he has a girlfriend.

He's very close to "Mother nature".

If you saw it on one of those shows it's just for comedy,you can't believe everything you see on TV.

Historically, this is EXACTLY how hippies acted. Sitting in their peace circles, flowers in their hair, never shaving, that "one of the earth" c**p, having their love orgy in their VW buses, and all while being on 'shrooms. I don't if most people believe it, but it is true.
