Do people honestly believe.....?

that they're getting a better hamster just because some stupid pet store gave it a fancy name?(Black Bear, Panda, Dalmation, Fancy...ect.?

yeah, but it is just a scam. plus most hamsters are mean no matter what (i have had 3)

yeah. Maybe there favorite animal is the panda and at some store they have "panda gerbils" so thery like "OMG i gots to get it." only cause it's name has panda in it.

I think it is ridiculous when they say The teddy bear hamsters are calmer! everyone I have EVER had has been much more agressive than any other breed. There is a difference in the breeds though, but when they call them like black bear, panda, dalmation, ect. they are just describing the color.

First time hamster owners like the sound of saying "It's a special type of hamster called a Black Bear."

They're cute names, but all of the hamsters are the same.

I don't know. I don't really care about the name they give them. As long as they're friendly and cute and healthy :D

Some people do.  But, if people would actually do research before they buy they would know that all syrians are syrians no matter what color, size or length of hair.  

I think it's really sad that pet stores label hamsters and take advantage of people and the animals like that.

I stood and argued with a PetSmart employee because they had labeled a "black bear" hamster, even though he was a black syrian..he shouldn't have been no "better" than a golden syrian hamster.  And what made it worse, is the ones they had in the cage with him had wet tail diarrhea, so I bought him and gave him meds just to keep him from dying that type of death...it would have been horrible.  He was SOOO much older than the others that was in the cage with him.  I'm glad I got him, he's the most gentlest hamster, other than my 2 year old hamster, that I've ever seen in all my life.  

But after that, I never did go back to that store to get an animal..if I want a hamster, I'll go to Petco...more honesty with their hamsters, and also, the employees are more knowledgable.

Yes, but I believe the names are decent for separating color types in stores...Though teddy bear is quite general.

I know! I get tired of hearing people say this, "Get a teddy bear hamster! They don't bite a lot and are the best!" It's true that pet stores give them fancy names and it annoys me a lot!

ya. i did the same thing as Susan C except at Petco. Omg the people there were so bad. there was a dead hamster in a cage with 3 others! and there was a clerk standing right there next to the hamsters doing nothing. and i Saw them drop a guinea pig to the floor! careless people.
