  1. Of course we do! I haven't had much "great" soul food here in CA. Although we can do some pretty good BBQ! I am sure the cooks/chefs aren't Ca natives! ha ha

  2. well i'm here in TN and all I see here is chicken biscuits and biscuit this biscuit that.  i'll take CA food over this stuff anyday.  you didn't get out much if that's all you saw.

  3. Yes.  I eat at Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles every chance I get.  They have the best greens, and of course their fried chicken is the bomb.  Don't even get me started on the waffles.  I think that people are a little more health conscious here though, so you don't see too much of the southern cooking in California.

  4. Yes but against our will.

  5. isn't sourthern food is like homemade food that your family makes, anyways there is some places that sells fried chicken, cornbread, hushbabies, and etc... it just depends on what kind area you went, like their ethinics or race like asain areas, black areas, latin, or white. if you go to california you gotta go to some sort sushi bar. Californians love sushi. (including me).

  6. There's a bunch here in Los Angeles: Soul Folks, Aunt Kizzy's Back Porch, Farmer's Market and somebody already mentioned Roscoe's. I don't eat it much since I'm a vegetarian. The simple rule is if there's a decent sized black population in the City, there will be soul food restaurants: Los Angeles, Oakland, Pasadena...

  7. southern cooking is not unusual in homes. restaurants offer a wide variety of differing menus, from ethnic, by country, eg, german, french, italian etc, mexican, texmex, and so on, there are many different restarant chains represented in california. i don't know if cracker barrel, southern style restaurants, have located any units that far west, as yet. i know what you mean about fried chicken, yams/sweet potatos, collard, turnip, or mustard greens, okra, grits/buttered hominy, catfish, corn bread, pintos, fried green tomatos, snap beans with fat back, red eye gravy with your ham, bread pudding, red velvet cake or eskimo pie for dessert. ummmm! i know just where you're coming from

  8. Lots of resonably priced cajun food here.  There are also some fine dining experiences like The Gingerbread House in Oaktown.  aka: Oakland..

    and yeah, Roscoes!

  9. M&M's Soul Food is real big here in Los Angeles. There are several locations. I hear it's good.

  10. That's because California is not the south. It's not like Georgia or Alabama.

  11. h Lucille's? lol im retarded but i dunno ther sorta southern...

but  i mean cmon KFC!!!! wtf KFC!!
