  1. Yes!!!! The only people who speak Irish(gaeilge) are Irish and primary school teacher and people in the Gaetacht (eg.Spideal in Galway). EVERY and I mean Every, Irish person speaks English, Only about 5-15% can speak Irish fluently.

  2. English only different. You MUST go on an international trip w/ your boyfriend BEFORE you get married (if you haven't already). Reveals masses about someone you think you know.

  3. ohmigod, you are planning to move there and you don't even know that? With all due respect, you need to research a place before you move there. And what kind of education did you have?

  4. No, we speak Indian. I'm being sarcastic. Of course we speak English! But in the Gaeltachts we speak Irish.

  5. Yes and you would be the one with the accent, lol. Irish people are very gracious and patient with new immigrants. But whats more important, before you uproot yourselves, as someone else pointed out, you should research where your planning on moving to. and why.  Mainly because you need to have the right to live there...in other words, if your from a non EA/EU country and have do not have a parent or grandparent it will be difficult for you to stay. That is unless you have a Master's or higher degree for work and can get a job offer prior to moving. You have a lot of research to do ...I would start with a vacation with your soon to be husband, as newly weds tend to already be under a lot of stress, without adding to it by moving to a different country...it would only cause for legal issue's to ensue and put strain on your new marriage. Good Luck and congratulations in your upcoming nuptials. Search under Ireland questions for someone who asked about getting work in Galway, I left a list of resources which may be of assistance.

  11. Yes, there is a dialect/accent. There maybe words we do not use here. But it is still English.
