  1. In my opinion, I don't think the average Brit really cares about American accents. I mean, would you be able to identify where someone from the UK was born based on their accent? Many Brits can, and it's a bit of a social problem because human mentality leans towards thinking that people from "rich" areas are "better" than people from non-affluent areas. In my experience of having many British friends and clients (I live and work in NYC), most Brits seem to like the fact that America is much less sensitive to where someone comes from than in the UK. For example, every President since Kennedy has come from the Sunbelt - at least until Obama is elected ;-) That didn't stop Northern US voters from voting for Bush - God help us. I don't think the Brit's are nearly as fascinated with American accents as we are with British accents.

  2. No.  A few people told me they thought we had "delightful" accents.  Both men and women liked the way I spoke.

  3. We are exposed to American accents on tv so much that it doesn't really bother us, so no.

  4. Well... yeah it is strange i suppose because its completely different to how i speak or anyone i know speaks. But i watch American t.v everyday (Nickelodeon lol) so I'm kinda used to it!

Just out of curiosity do you find the British accent strange?

  5. i think that anything 'different' from what you're used to sounds a little strange and times and can be interesting.  i'm an american and think that english accents sound really... well nice!  but i'm sure some English/other UK people think that american accents sound interesting too!

    same goes for Aussie accents!
