  1. Several other places on the east coast eat them.  I know FL doesnt....I have friends who live there and are coming home to MI next week and they cannot WAIT to go to National  LOL

  2. Sure there are places all over the country that serve hot dogs with chili and onions on top, but I think that the true "Coney Island experience" (i.e., gyros, cheap breakfast all day long, Greek Salads, etc.) is a Southeast Michigan thing.

  3. I live in Florida, and Sonic has coney dogs. Is that the same thing? Otherwise, no I guess we don't.

  4. We have a fast food chain called James Coney Island in Houston.  The main food there is their hot dogs with chili/cheese.  But they also have burgers, etc.  It may be the same thing you are talking about.

  5. Well Its not true because there is a Coney Island in Lansing, MI.

  6. I live in the south and we do not have a restaurant named that here... we can go to other restaurants and get chili dogs... they also serve them alot with coleslaw on them in addition to the chili and cheese.... yummy

  7. It's mostly a Southeast Michigan thing.  In fact, if you go to New York, most people have never heard of a Coney, even at Coney Island.  Elsewhere in the country, the closest thing you'll find is a diner that may serve chili dogs.

Here's an interesting tidbit.  When I was traveling in the far northern counties of New York State (bordering Quebec), their "Coneys" are known as "Michigans".
