the govt aerial drops 1080 all over our bush, which no doubt its gets into our waterways. we have this ugly algae like substance growing in a lot of our river systems..they call it didymo..but i wonder if its some sort of mutant from our use of 1080 and all the fertiliser waste that our farmers spread all over the land.

  1. Fact sheet for you from Forest & Bird’s website - i couldnt be bothered with DoC's which may prove helpful. Point is that it is the most effective tool currently in use (traps don’t work anywhere near as efficiently as they should in many parts of the country) to protect the biodiversity of this country. And no, didymo has nothing to do with 1080.

  2. According to this it occurs naturally in your flora and is used as a pesticide not an herbicide like Agent orange.

Judging from what I'm seeing your algae wouldnt appear related to the specific use of 1080
