  1. Generally everyone the world over loves Ireland and the Irish, hence why St Patrick's day is celebrated the world over. And most people love Scotland and the Scottish too.

Have you never noticed how all Americans came from either Ireland or Scotland? None of them want to admit they came from France or Germany, lol.

  5. As this question is in the Irish section you are bound to get Irish answers. As a neutral I can say the image of the Irish people is beginning worldwide to get better. It took a sharp fall during the troubles in the north as Irish become directly asssociated with the illegal terrorist gangs of the IRA. The end of that terror gang has  meant a slow rise of faith again in the word Irish. But it will take a long time to recover. The IRA did a huge amount of damage .

  6. If I could choose another accent it would be irish, I would love to sound just like a friend of mine when she speaks, it's lovely and so is she.

  26. I really like the Irish, accent, music, riverdance, the whole culture...but you might not like me cos I'm English?

  27. Hi, American with Irish roots (don't we all) who has visited Ireland. My first experience with the Irish was via family and friends, co-workers in the US...and all have for the most part been great. Beautiful country with friendly people.

I think the Irish are well liked overall; Ireland is a small and peaceful country that hasn't had much political intrigue outside it's own borders/history with England, so no nationality really has a bad opinion of them. They have flown under the radar in international politics.

  28. I love Ireland and the Irish!

    = )

  29. I was born and reared in Ireland, and have been abroad quite a lot. So far I've been welcomed by every nationality I've met  - France, Italy, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Portugal, the Netherlands ....

So far the only real nastiness I ever experienced in terms of nationality was when I hit an obnoxious drunken Englishman who would not stop trying to feel me up, even when I told him to back off. He started yelling at me that I didn't like him because I was Irish and he was English, and I yelled right back No, I don't like you because you're an ********.

I'm happy to say that there was a large group of English people in the room at the same time who agreed with me, and the women in that group were particularly congratulory as he had been hassling them as well. The drunken Englishman went to another part of the pub and cried to the owner/barman who fed him coffee and came up to tell me that yer man was downstairs bawling crying because a woman hit him. However, the owner/barman knew the guy of old and reckoned he had it coming.

That Englishman was a lot nicer to women after that. So we were sort of friendly then .... but he always made sure he was facing me, and always kept a few metres or a few people in between us.  ;-)))))

  30. I love Ireland and the Irish people.  Although I couldn't eat a whole one.  Only kidding, I have friends in Ireland and love to go back there at every opportunity.

  31. Well as an Irish person let me say complimented i feel and how thankful i am for all of your kind words.always remember that there are good and bad people everywhere though i suppose the irish are,for the most part,a decent bunch with a few flaws and plenty of bad apples.as regards the english who fears that he/she may be unwelcome here due to their own nationality, let me say that you're more than welcome to come over and see us adn if you're warm and friendly you'll be welcomed as one fo our own.you might meet a few idiots who'll have a problem with your accent but just ignore them and enjoy your holiday.cead mile failte!
