  1. For controlling animal populations, spaying females is the most effective method.

Neutering males can affect the population, but it is also directly related to reducing aggression in some males and extending their lives....un-neutered male dogs have a very high incidence of prostate cancer...

  2. The main reason is so that the animal will be easier to control, and (at least in the case of cats) less territorial.

Of course, if you've ever visited or adopted from a shelter, you know how many dogs and cats are just "tossed."  That's the really abomination, I think, not spaying/neutering.

    Good luck!

  3. Your question is ridiculous and so is your characterization of neutering as "abominable."  No responsible pet owner and animal lover would allow their furbaby to remain unneutered.  Neutered animals are happier, healthier, less aggressive and safer in the long run.  Spayed females are much less likely to develop breast cancer.

If my spayed female cat had had one litter of five kittens per year for 10 years, she would have produced 50 kittens that I would have had to find homes for, among the thousands of other cats dying in shelters because of people who think like you do.  If each of those 50 grew up unneutered and produced 50 more kittens . . . you finish the math.  My head is spinning.

Neutering doesn't alter gender, brainiac.  You blew it with this one.  I hope to God you're not a pet owner.

  4. Birth control.  And to make them grow meaner and larger in the case of castrated steer.

  5. Cutting a male dog's balls off does not make it a female dog. It's really more like making it a eunuch, who were of course still seen as men, it's just that castration makes you a more suitable slave. It also keeps your voice high and flexible, which is of course important to people who want to fully enjoy the sound of their dog's howling. Surely you can understand?

  6. Have you been to a pound?  Ever see the excess animals in there without homes?  I think as a pet owner it is your responsibility to ensure this animal does not pro-create unless you intend on caring for the babies yourself.  (Or ensuring they are adopted into loving homes.)  Another option is to be sure that your male dog does not get out free to roam the streets and impregnate a female...believe me, the owners won't appreciate it.

  7. One stray male can produce an influx of puppies- so neutering the males is effective.    It also keeps the males close to home.

I lost a dear dog who was out chasing the a female in heat.    I wish my parents had had him neutered.

  8. They spay female animals too. It's for birth control.

  9. Here's why I did it to my male animals:

    1. It makes them less aggressive and in the case of dogs, they are less likely to bite people. Most dog attacks are caused by intact males

    2. They aren't constantly trying to get out of the house or the yard when a female in the area comes into heat

    3. It reduces the likelihood of spraying to mark territory

    4. A neutered or spayed animal means there will be fewer unwanted kittens or puppies being put to death in animal shelters because there aren't enough homes for them

Yes, it is rather sad to remove an animal's s*x organs but the consequences of not having it done can be much worse.

  10. Well, geez, if people wanted female pets that badly, wouldn't they have looked for one before taking it home? Spaying and neutering is meant as a birth control measure and carried out as such (except in the case of a horrible and likely irreversible accident).

  11. For birth control- why would someone want to give a dog a s*x change?

  12. We neutered our cat when he started spraying all over the house.  One morning he peed in my husband's house slipper.  That afternoon he headed off to the vet.

  13. It's responsible and humane...considering how many stray are put to sleep or starving b/c no one wants them.

Lot of them come from people who didn't bother being responsible.

  14. I had it done because I wanted a girl cat and like I accidental grabbed a boy so I was like can you make this a girl... total trans-gender.  The cats a little confused but like I am thrilled.

Anyways enough kidding; I did it for the birth control fact. So birth control and maybe even spray control is the reason for this abominable practice. Duh!

Oh I forgot also because my un-neutered male cat insisted on humping the other male cat and he hated it.  He would just look at us with that look that said could you please do something about this.  We wanted him to stop hiding so we clipped the other one.

  15. LOL I had to laugh at this question, it's bizzare. You are actually thinking that spaying and neutering animals is something to do with feminism?

People neuter pets so that they don't reproduce. Also if you'd studied biology a bit better you would see that male spaying is an easier operation. There are other reasons, aggression/moodiness in both sexes are reduced and also cancer.

Rabits for example, the female has a very high risk of ovarian cancer if not spayed.

An animal doesn't know it's had it's womb or testicles removed.

You seriously have a problem mate!

And also...you can't algter an aniamls gender by spaying them.

  16. Both

  17. "If spaying and neutering is not allowed and people are made responsible for birth control of their animals by vasectomy or tubectomy or other means, pet industry will suffer, number of stray animals will reduce and everybody will be happy."

I knew you were odd and ill-acquainted with logic dude, but this post just approaches the utterly bizarre.
