  1. nope... especially when they are texting!

  2. were i live now we are happy the streets are paved...i have never lived in abig city (hurrah)...but i have driven through them..yuk...i have a couple ways to get on..depending on the situation...take my time and ease on...or speed up and try to squeez  in because there are to many inconsiderate a**hole drivers and getting worse..do not miss it...we dont even know what rush hour traffic is around here (more than 10 cars and 1 truck)...lots of 4x4's and 3 wheelers....beam me up toots

  3. Apparently not.  Some people expect other people to move over (ie..unecessary lane change) when it's your job as a driver to watch the traffic around you and look for a clearing.  Do defensive football players get out of one's way when you have the football.  Quite the opposite.

Since more Americans die each year in auto crashes (there's a neat little fact the media propagandists will fail to repeat over and over like they do with the dead/injured in Iraq, but then that's just because they're propagandists rather than journalists.)  sorry back on track now.

Since more American die in car crashes than in all the wars America has ever been in. Since more American die each year in auto crashes...it seems that driving has become America's favorite full contact sport.  The insurance industry is making a killing off of your insurance premiums.  Long live capitalism!

I noticed one person prior to my response who insists that I must move over to get out of her way.  How arrogant!  It's your job to look for an opening.

Personally, I support passing laws that say if you injure someone with your vehicle that you are tried for intentional manslaughter.  If you kill someone with your vehicle you are tried for murder.

Here's another issue.  18 wheelers.  When an tractor trailer rig is completely empty it takes longer to stop than it does with 80,000 pounds of junk in the trailer.  If you're a moron please pull in front of one of these vehicles and tap your breaks.  As a former truck driver I knew there was nothing I could do so I just kept it on cruise control.

Those trucks will run you over.  They simply can not stop.  So, if you were born with a brain try to use it occasionally.  If you want to tempt the laws of physics try standing under a pecan or oak tree until one of the nuts falls and hits your nut..er I mean head.

  4. Different regions are worse than others. A writer once compared cars merging on southern CA freeways to a zipper. Further north (like around Seattle), too many drivers haven't caught on to the concept and merging is a nightmare. I learned to drive in CA and have a great appreciation for the relative smoothness of merging that I used to experience down there, now that I'm in an area where they are mainly clueless.

  5. They don't have time to look - they're too busy reading the paper, texting, or applying makeup while they drive ;);););)

  6. Not in SW Florida. They either stay frozen in fear or they pull out right in front of you & gun it.

  7. yea some ppl are just inconsiderate and/or stupid

  8. I've noticed this troubling trend as well, so, since it's been awhile since I had to actually read the "rules of the road"  I recently stopped and our local DMV office to take a look and make sure things hadn't changed.

What do you know,  Merging is still a required and the traffic on the interstate has the right of way.

Sadly I saw an accident in a work zone no less, where the merger barged onto the freeway into the side of a tractor trailer,  You'd think they would have seen that one coming!  and at 45 miles an hour.

I can only imagine what was going through the mind of that truck driver.

I always watch and leave room for the truckers who have to dive out of the right hand land to avoid an idiot expecting to be let in.

I only hope I have the opportunity to be a witness for a non injury accident caused by a non merger

  9. Not in California!  They've brought thier bad driving skills from wherever they've come from.

I'd love to have a paint gun to blast every idiot on the road.  Wonder if i could fit that much ammo in my car for a day's drive?

  10. I have no patience for rude people so I give them a choice -- be polite or be DEAD! My uncle owns a dealership!

  11. Just like people already on the highway refuse to merge left and let others onto the highway.  There are no good drivers.

  12. No, but in new jersey they do.

  13. It depends on where you are.  In the metropolitan New York region and North Jersey, the answer is yes.  People in Pennsylvania have no idea and seem to get very angry if you try to set up an alternate merge.  The busiest areas understand politeness.
