Do people realize that Georges St. Pierre is an exceptionally great fighter?

A lot of people keep thinking that Matt Hughes is going to lose to Thiago Alves just because Hughes was dominated by GSP in his last fight. Don't these people realize that GSP is just that d**n GOOD?! Yes, Matt Hughes lost to GSP two times, but he is still one of the most dominant Welterweights to ever brace the Octagon.

In addition, people seem to think that because GSP got KO'ed by Matt Serra, GSP isn't good. The KO by Matt Serra was a fluke. GSP slacked off when he became champion, and Matt Serra trained extra hard for that fight. Had GSP taken that fight more seriously, he would've beaten Matt Serra like he did in their second fight. But, GSP learned his lesson: He will never slack off again for any fight.

I agree with all except calling the sera shot a fluke.

It happened for all the reasons you listed, so it wasn't a fluke.

If team A prepares harder for the challenge than team B and  overlooks  team A and team B wins...it's not a fluke imo no matter how talented and unfocused team A was. They lost the mental side of the challenge set themselves up for defeat.

George Saint Pierre is very good at the scrambling aspect of mma as well as his stand up.

GSP is a great fighter, just because he lost that doesn't make him a bad fighter. No, I wouldnt call it a fluke either. Thats just the way the sport goes. Any fighter can win, anything can happen.

what Im wondering is why you feel the need to defend him.  Are you his cheerleader?

h**l yeah. A lot of people like to brag about how well they fight. Only a small percentage actually have the skills to back up the talk. GSP is one of those. I sincerely believe that in any hand to hand combat situation GSP is in, boxing, kickboxing, bar brawl, back alley, GSP has the knowledge and skills to come out on top.

I still feel that Hughes can probably still handle everyone else in that weight class but I don't think that he ever wants to fight GSP again after having fought him three times already. I was really hoping to see Hughes stop all over serra.

Yes, I believe him to be a very good fighter, just like Matt Hughes and Serra.  They are all top notch.  I really like GSP and MH because they also are less apt do down each other in the name of UFC.  They both act honorably, especially in the octagon.

GSP is currently the champ because he earned it and deserves it.  He will eventually be beaten again, but for now he is on top of his game.  But anything is possible.

Yes Barak, he has been great and even when he gets knocked down like when he lost his title the 1st time he still came back and avenged his loss, he has great heart and is an extremely gifted athlete, and he is a hard worker also so he always comes to fights in great shape, I think Fitch is in trouble.

Yes GSP is awesome.  He does everything very well.

Still the Serra win wasn't a fluke.  GSP got hit and he went down no fluke.
