Yes, some do.  But for most of us, eBay is just a part time job.  

It used to be a full time job for me until eBay starting nickel and diming us sellers to death.  Then it became too much work for so little money and the novelty wore off.  I have a full time consulting job outside my home now, so I'm only selling on  evenings and weekends. I  sell art, antiques, and old books.  I have an eBay store which pretty much maintains itself.  All I have to do is add new items periodically.   It does bring in an extra $12-15,000 a year for my family, which pretty much pays for my groceries and gas for the year.

Yes people do, but it takes work.  There are no easy ways to make big $$ on E-bay.  I have one friend who is making about 20k / year (also has another job).  He will not go to full time on Ebay as he feels he would get alot more $$ for his time as he is too small an operator.

PS  He makes most of his profits on shipping and handling.
