  3. ...err, i saw them in the shop, so some people must like them...but i've never tried them :/

    ...i would try it if i had a chance though...for free...who cares :)

  4. eels are nothing like moths ???

there are hundreds of eels withina  few feet of me if you want some

Tradition says that londoners like jellied eels the most- not fer me though- I prefer hornets testicles  yum

  5. Rock salmon, (also called Rock eel, Flake, and Huss in the UK) is the flesh of the Spiny dogfish or the bull huss, nothing i'm sorry to say anything to do with eels .Proper eel caught and cooked fresh is how people should try it first, then they would appreciate what a fine creamy white flesh it has.Only the more adventurous should move on to jellied eel as it has an acquired taste.I, like many others from the south/east of london were weened on them when they were a cheep form of good nourishment Today they are well over- priced and never taste as fresh as they used to thus giving them bad press.

  6. Yuck I can think of nothing more revolting

  7. Cockneys eat that stuff don't they. Can't say I like them. Urgh!

  8. My Dad is form Holland and he loves them!

  9. We live near the Norfolk coast and it is seen as a delicacy here. Bleurgh. Wouldn't catch me eating them though.

  10. Yes there is a chain of traditional jellied eel shops in London dating back to forever. I used to love  a particular fish from the fish and chip shop called rock salmon - years later I found out it was eel, but I never would have eaten it if i had known. The thought of jellied eels repulses me but I can also imagine that they are really okay - I can see its my old head getting in the way. It s probably like Dr Seuss' green eggs and ham story- you would love them if you tried - its having the bottle to try - well I dare you!

  11. I thought I would like them, so I bought a pot from my local market a few months back. Turns out that the reality of them is not as tasty as the thought of them!

  12. I would love to try them. I'm in Scotland and it is difficult to track them down. I'm a big fan of mussels and whelks(the wee snots that you eat with a pin) so I imagine that I would like jellied eels too. I have only been to London once and was only there for a stop-over between coaches, so never had the chance to trawl the street for a wee fish van, selling them. If you have any info on buying them closer to my home, I would be greatful!!!

  13. not me but a lot of londoners love them. it goes back to the late 1800's when people were very poor and any healthy food was unavailable to them. living near the docks eels were abundant and they put them in pies and preserved them in jelly. it was good eating in those days.
