Do people think Catholics are stupid or blind?

We know what is happening in our Church with these pedophiles, we are not stupid or blind, we pray for the victims, we did not ask the Priests to do this and we are not to blame

There are many, many wonderful Priests who are serving God, but people are blaming all Priests and telling us to get out of the Church and don't let your children near the Priests

It disheartens me when people say the Catholic people protects pedophiles, we don't! We pray for these victims and for the Priests to help them, we do not protect them only the victims

So why do people call us pedophile lovers and singles out the Catholic Church all the time when it is happening more in other Religions?

there are black sheeps in every herd. and there are bad people everywere including in the house. so many fathers molast their own daughter, so many boss exploit their workers, so many teachers exploit their students.

so why to single out some incidence that has taken place in some catholic church? devil finds his way more easier with those who believe in god then those who dont believe in god.

The Catholic Church has got bad controversy in the past and probably will in the future. We are never let alone because we have such a deep faith we will survive and Jesus promised that His church will prevail. And it is a shame that the Holy priests that we have, have to take the brunt for the others that did this, but they will have a higher place in heaven for the proud way they wear their collars and stayed true to our faith. Our prayers are with the victims but nothing is said about the ones that came forward and nothing happened to them. I know of 2 priest who had to endure this and couldn't practice their faith because of it. Thank God the truth came out and they are now back where their vocation lead them. Preaching and teaching to the people of their parishes. You see a lot of people got hurt from this not just the victims, good holy priest got hurt also. And we catholics pray for them all. We have a great capacity to love and pray for our fellow human beings. No matter what the circumstances. God bless you all.

I agree with you 100%.  Im certain Catholics are just as outraged and upset as anyone else.  I dont know statistics on what religion harbors more child molesters, but it does reach across all religious, racial, socioeconomic, and gender lines.

While it is sad and reprehensible, and the Catholic Church did drag it's feet in it's initial response.  I honestly doubt they knew that the problem was as large as it was.

That being said, the problem is not as wide spread as many make it out to be.  I know many Priests and while some are more dedicated than others (we are all human), I don't feel that my kids are more in danger around them than their school teachers.  I think we all as parents need to be aware that there are evil people in this world.  We need to be monitoring our kids and make sure that they do not go with ANY adult alone.  This applies to Teachers, Little league Coaches, Pastors, Priests, even Uncles and Aunts.

Another thing not reported is the response of the Catholic Church over the last few years, the background checks of ALL adults that come into any contact with youth, not just Priests, and the courses we must take to recognize suspected abuse and how to report it.

Because they just want to bash the Church, and this is a convenient weapon. These people are not concerned about children at all.

I have found that the majority who do this use the scandals to attack Catholics and the Catholic Church, their concern is not for the Victims. Which I do find sickening.  Catholic or not my heart goes out to anyone who has been a Victim of a pedophile and I would never use a scandal or scandals of another faith or Church or Non faith for that matter to attack another, That is shallow and sick in my opinion!.

Most people I would think know that only a percentage of priests do this yet criticize the whole system. This is human nature. Throwing out the baby with the bath water so to speak. Perhaps most people focus on the Catholic Church simply because it is more widespread or has more coverage about this topic in the media. Just my view.

Exactly and they seem to think that all priests are pedophiles by their thinking I should be afraid that all men are rapists, and all teachers sleep with their students. Just ignore their hype and pray for them. I do.

It's because the media loves to go into a feeding frenzy whenever there is even the tiniest hint of scandal, then they get everyone to believe that this is the norm.  It's wrong of course, and there are many people who fall for it hook line and sinker.  I pray for the victims and their families.  I pray for the priests who do such things, so that they will stop doing such things, I pray for all the good priests for having to bear the stigma of a few, and I pray for our church so that we might learn from the mistakes of mismanagement of past problems and have a plan of action to take whenever there is a hint of problems, so that way everyone stays safe.

We should pray for the people who bash us, because they don't know any better. Ignorance and misinformation are their tools. Sometimes I wonder why the "other" churches don't get as much news time. All the scandal, misappropriation of church money and child abuse happens in the other churches also.

We have to stick together as a faith and a Church. Peace be with all today and everyday. Those who pray together stay together.

I do not agree with the Catholic religion But i do respect your right to believe as you do.

I believe Catholics are Christian & feel it would be unchristian of me to run your faith or any other down.

Catholics are getting a lot of publicity about pedophile priests & i feel the way the church has handled the problem as lacking but i do not believe this problem is limited to the Catholic faith only.

I do believe that it goes deeper than human bias or criticism,this is only the end product of the intellectual battle of which Satan(may God rebuke him) is the author and manipulator.

Let me explain what I mean here, we know that Jesus said that h**l (or the attacks of h**l) would never prevail against His church but this also implies that h**l would vent it`s fury upon the church right up until the end of the world, we are indeed in the midst of a furious spiritual battle for souls in these times and the front line of defence against h**l is the Catholic Priesthood.

The evil one loves to pull down Priests and also to wreck marriages, these are the two bedrocks of the church much attacked today, and as the evil one works on the level of modern man`s intellect it is obvious that  his tentacles reach deep into the media and other spheres in order to stir up division and confusion, this web of deceit is furthered by the tongues of peoples who are not even aware of the battle for souls today.

Those Priests who have injured the church and blighted the good name of the Catholic Priesthood are in fact doing the work of the evil one and they really need prayer and the offering of our sacrifices even more so than unbelievers etc, and we need to surround our good Priests with daily prayer to keep them safe from the snares of the devil.

Non-catholics who love to beat the church with these repeated insults and by doing so think they can bring down the Church, well they are simply doing the work of h**l without any idea of the magnitude of their actions,(Father forgive them for they know not what they do)

Satan(may God rebuke him) the Father of lies and the corruptor of souls is the hidden assassin behind all this and more.

when some of the flocks go their way, they blame not only the entire flock but also the sheperd. I know a lot of Pastors who have kids outside of marriage with their mistresses, but i guess that's ok. I know a lot of Jehova Witnesses who ahve been arrested for solliciting prostitution, but that's ok. It's only US , the Catholic Church, who is not ok. wanna know why? Because we ARE the Catholic Church! Plain and Simple. And i'm ok with that, I don't mind being hated, God said that his people would be hated. It's all about being Christians.

Take care of one another and watch out for trouble.

I don't feel you are stupid or blind for being Catholic.

I feel it is unhealthy for a man or woman not to marry if they want to have a sexual relationship who ever they may be.

Cling to the good and remove the bad.

These priests should be removed and prosecuted for there crimes.

Then we all need to forgive and heal, move on.

Also we must realize there is  consequence for sin.
