  4. I'm not a very advanced at skiing but I've never used polls and i dont see why i would it seems like they would just be annoying while skiing u usually just hold them up and its seems like they would just make ur arms tired but i dont really have any experience with polls hope i helped

  5. When first learning, sometimes people skip the poles, to become comfortable with the feeling of being on the slope.  Then they pick up the poles, because once you are off the bunny hill, they become very important.

  6. I have struggled with the same question. I mostly crosscountry ski and poles are very important to propel your self in xc. But for downhill with shaped skis they don't seem to be needed until you get to the expert stage.

  7. I've read lot's of comments in like questions where people claim that poles are just a crutch and are not necessary but that just let's me know what type of skiing they do. The poles perform more of a job than just pushing you along a lift line or as a rhythmic helper. They are needed to properly transfer weight between edges especially on a steep and deep. Good luck if you decide to explore the backside of a resort and you find yourself a quarter of a mile from the nearest lift without any poles. How does someone without poles right themselves after falling in deep powder

  8. Poles

  9. Not always. If you ski on extreme carve skies, you don't use the poles, because you make verry extreme turns and you use your arms and hands, like snowboarding.
