Question:

Do people wait until the last minute to buy wedding gifts?

We're getting married next weekend and I've been peeking at the gift registry. I know, I know - don't expect anything - but the only things off the lists are what she got at her bridal showers. Is this typical or what?

  1. I know u r gonna think this is crazy .some people wait just to see if your going to (really) get married its crazy but people do it and people do forget to scan the items.soooo don't worry you will have more things than you need .

  2. You will most likely get Money for your wedding. As most people only use the registry for the bridal shower. I never got any gifts at my wedding, only money.

  3. I normally purchase the gift about a month ahead of time. Some people may be giving you money.

  4. Yes its typical most Americans are last minute people.  Also, keep in mind that some people buy things that are not on the registry.  Most likely you will end up with two of something like most newlyweds.  Congratulations!

  5. Yes, most people want unitl the very last minute, sometimes the morning of.  But...I will say most often the registry is used for the shower and for the wedding people just give monetary gifts.

  6. Yep it's typical... people wait or they give money or worse... they give something you didn't even want. I guess it's the thought that counts... but yeah we barely got anything off our registry and some things came in the mail from guests who attended the wedding but didn't even order or send the guests til a month after the wedding!

  7. yes people procrastinate

  8. Yes, a lot of people forget to scan the item on your registry or choose to buy it at another store.  We registered for a skillet at a more expensive store and ended up getting three from guests that had purchased it at a less expensive place.

  9. I am going through this right now. We are having a couples shower in 2 days and I also peeked at my registry...tacky I know but hey it happened. Let me tell you that you can't worry about the gifts. So far we have a shower of about 50 people and maybe 4 items have been purchased off the registry. We did not register anywhere to pricey and there are not to many items over 30 dollars either. I think people are busy and don't always have time to put that much energy into a gift. Things are expensive and sometimes you have to let things like the idea of being "showered" with gifts go. ;(

  10. Some people who are not used to shopping off the registry are also guilty of not handing it to the cashier to be taken off the list and so it wasn't shown as bought. I am guilty of having done this before. ;)

  11. Very typical.  People will often wait until a day or two before the wedding to buy a gift for it.  The reason is two-fold: there is less risk of the couple finding out about it in advance and they can avoid getting a gift if they are last minute uninvited/the wedding is canceled.

  12. most of my items where given at the shower and then for the wedding we mostly received money

  13. pretty typical...lots of people don't buy the gift until they feel certain they are attending

  14. It happens. If people are like my mom, then yup, she's a last minute person haha. It depends on the person though. Me, I like to get things early. And I don't like for my gifts to be cheesy, they need to be nice, especially if it's someone's wedding gift! That's just how I see it though :p

  15. some people do wait until the last moments to shop for a wedding.  , lots of people give gifts of money to the bride and groom on their wedding day or at the wedding reception.  Don't worry every problem you have will be solved on the day of your wedding.

  16. Contrary to popular belief . . not all wedding guests like wedding or bridal registries.  If your guests were going to buy you a "wrapped gift" they probably would have bought it by now.

If you have attended other weddings recently then you would have remembered that the "gift table" has a few wrapped gifts and all the other "gifts" are in white envelopes (monetary gifts).
