I know you guys will probably call me an obsessed liberal tree-hugger but I feel like this issue hasn't been touched enough, I even wish obama had touched on global warming a bit more. It's extremely important. This earth won't survive much longer if we don't ditch oil.

  1. i know some republicans dont believe it exist.  My dad doesnt..  Im surprised "crazy weather" and "nascar race delayed" hasnt made it apparent enough lol

  2. Many people support both.  I don't know anyone that is against alternative energy.

  3. no they don't

  4. Maybe.

  5. It takes oil to create alternative energy.

  6. I think everyone cares a least a little bit, it's just that cheap gasoline trumps that for many people, and they've bought into the hype of offshore drilling as a solution to our high gas prices - but neglect to face the issue that it won't do any good for at least 5 years - and that it will amount to a few cents a gallon.

Not worth it, in my opinion, and will only prolong the inevitable - that gasoline will not be a feasible source of energy in the near future.

  7. Some people support both. I would love to see alternative energy but in the meantime... I am for drilling. I would love a hybrid car but I can't afford one... are liberals and Obama going to buy me one??????

  8. Yes, off shore drilling is not harmful to the enviroment and wind and solar power technology is not there yet to supply our energy needs. Oil provides a lot more than just energy to our economy. Oil is also the base for anything plastic in our society. So if you want to hate on oil, I encourage you you step off your computer because oil is a major byproduct of any plastic, woman's makeup, or a lot of drugs that are used in society today. Oil is a natural product of the earth's environment and to hate on this natural commodity is just ridiculous and stupid. Please educate yourself on the oil market before you slander the whole oil sector. By typing on this computer and driving your car, you are merely a hypocrite.

  9. I think what you ignore is that most, if not all, people that support more drilling also want an eventual turn to only alternative energy sources.

You say "drilling instead of alternative energy" but if you pay attention to all politcal policies you would realize that most want alternative energies.

  10. I care about my wallet! People like you are costing me an arm and a leg at the pump.

The Government needs to clean out all the tree huggers, they're destroying the country.

    Environemtalists are nothing but fascists!

  11. Now you need to do some homework.  The earth WILL survive.  Nobody can say global warming is caused by fossil fuels, if this was so then we would have already been in global disaster in the early 1900's when we burned coal to the point that the sky was black over many cities.

Let me ask you this simple question, other than fossil fuels and nuclear, what source of fuel can we use to replace oil in less than 50 years?

Wind?  Nope, we cannot store electrical power, so when the wind stops, we need oil run plants at about 80% of wind's capacity to sustain power.  Those plants cannot just be turned on and off, in fact to run then efficiently they need to stay on therefore, no savings there.

Solar?  Nope, we still need about 30-50 years to get the technology up.

Now I ask you, why do you think off shore drilling will destroy the enviorment?  Show me proof, in fact many off shore dilling sites have been shown to be GOOD, by providing a habitat for many sea creatures.

  12. Yes.

  13. Of course.

Modern drilling and recovery techniques are environmentally safe. The platforms are placed over the horizon line and not visible from shores and beaches.

Opponents of offshore drilling use scare tactics based on very old outdated anecdotal "evidence" which has been exaggerated to stop efforts to develop our own natural resources at home.

Current proposals for "alternative energy" by the Democrats include massive government subsidies which will increase the Federal deficit.

These are being developed already without such subsidies.

Until alternative energy can be made economically feasible and deliverable, we need petroleum in the short term and for the foreseeable future.

We have to drill here and drill now.

It is a matter of national security to use our own resources and stop the transfer of our wealth to foreign countries who could cut off our supply before we develop alternative sources.
