I drive a 2 lane highway most nights and when a higher up SUV or pickup come up it is really blinding. Or when they come up from behind I have to adjust not just the rearview mirror but the side mirror also. Don't the people driving with these lights even care? I have driven for over 30 years with normal headlights and never have had a problem. Now it is. Am I the only one? People with these lights answer also. Please.

  1. yea its bright, but at the same time its safer...  Put Xenon on ur ride and U will like the improvement of night driving... Does a couple of seconds of blindness matter??? Just turn Your eyes to the white line........

  2. I'm glad I'm not the only one. ..and it isn't just the SUVs or pickups with these. It's also the cars. Around here people drive with them on high beams and if they have driving lights those will be lit too. Is it blinding? You better believe it. ...and these jerks don't take a hint when I flash my lights. When these people are heading in my direction I have to come to a complete stop (if I'm on a 2 way road) because the lights are so bright I can't even see the stripes on the road. Stopping on the road isn't legal but I haven't been caught yet.

  3. It may be "safer" for the person driving the vehicle with those type of headlights but the oncoming drivers don't feel the same way.

Those lights practically blind me. Since I am deaf, that poses a real problem. I flash my brights at them to let them know that their lights are too bright.

Of course, most of the time they ignore me.

What I really hate are those miniscule brakelights...they look stupid and are not effective as proper brake lights. I even saw a car with clear brake lights, which is of course, illegal. Brake lights MUST be red. Obviously, some yo-yos either don't know that or ignore that rule.

As for the poster who said "what difference does a few seconds of blindness matter?", it only takes a split second for a tragedy to occur. Whoever had them, get rid of them. You are only endangering the safety of everyone else on the road.

  4. Safer yes but in my opinion they are are more dangerous to oncoming traffic and I agree with you that all they really do is blind you.

  5. They already drive tank-sized vehicles that will smear you in your normal car all over the road in a colision. Why would you think they care about OTHER people's safety. SUVs are for people who care only about their own and their kids' safety.

  6. It is tough for those few seconds getting blind to the powerful lights.

people who have affored the light does not care, they assume they r the king of the road. It is their moral duty (not legal) that tehy do not blind by their power lights, they should reduce the light to half- which will hit the road not the eyes of the driver.
