I had surgery, and have been taking tylenol and motrin together. they arent strong enough, and the doctor gave me percocet. i took a lower dosage of tylenol earlier when i realized that i was taking too much of it, and now am in great pain from the lack of pain killer. is it safe for me to take the percocet now? i took the tylenol at 12 o clock, and took 1300mg for 8 hours. i need something, and i don't know which drugs can be combined.

  1. The percocet likely contains acetaminophen which is in tylenol. I am not sure, but I think motrin has ibuprofin in it, which is different, but still not good to combine.  Oh and percocet has oxycodone in it, the active ingredient in oxycontin, but at lower doses.  So be careful with those painkillers, they are pretty strong stuff.

  2. Usually the majority of painkillers contain acetaminophen and eventually your body will become some what immune to the amount your taking.

Usually you should check the mg on the container it'll say how strong it is and you'll know the strength of the pills your taking and what they contain.

But you should really ask your doctor if your having questions on the dosing
