I had my baby 7 weeks ago i keep getting what i believe to be period pains only they are a lot worst and a lot more painful than what i remember them to be....

Do period pains for some reason become more painful after having a baby or is it just me?

  1. Are you breastfeeding?  Your uterus contracts a lot when you breast feed.  It may just be the change in hormones.

The first period I had after having my son, I had PMT and that was a new one to me!

  2. Are you actually having your period or just having cramps? I'm a bit confused by the question, but I can tell you that my 1st period after having my daughter was quite a bit more painful than any period I ever remembered having before that. But after that 1st one, they seemed to go back to normal.

*edit* due to your edit, lol, i just want to add that i had period like cramps after having my daughter that lasted almost 2 months (right up until i got my 1st period) and it was just my uterus contracting back to normal size.

  3. Well your uterus could still be going back down to size which can cause bad cramps. I found my period was far less heavy and painful after my son was born.

  4. Its normal to have bad heavily period after had baby, as u only had a baby and ur still healing, I had really bad period pains after I had 2 babies. Get hot bottle on ur tummy it helps

  5. mine have actually became alot better since having kids

  6. hi, its still early days, but see your gp, who can advise you, and put your mind at rest. theres obviously no infection as you would have bleeding and /or smelly discharge of a funny colour.

  7. they can be if it was vaginal but take some advil or aleve and you will be fine...or get on YAZ, it really helped me.

  8. its the uterus shrinking back to its original size. its perfectly normal and causes period like pains. if in doubt speak to your midwife or health visitor.

  9. My periods got lighter and shorter and easier after my kids

  10. Are you breast feeding? Your uterus could be contracting, and if you are breast feeding this happens sometimes.
