Question:

Do personal money orders expire?

I don't see anything on it that has a date of expiration of when I need to cash it in. Thanks =)

  1. yes they do it should say it on the money order or you could just simply call the company who supplies it.


  2. It may vary from company to company or state to state, but why wouldn't you want to cash it and begin earning interest on it as soon as possible?  

  3. if it doesn't specify then it expires in 6 months like a regular check would.  After 6 months, it's considered "stale" dated and most banks won't cash it

  4. If there is an expiration date on the money order, it will be just below the line where you spell out the amount of the money order.  It could also be on the back of  the money order, where you would endorse it for payment, like you would a regular check.

    If you don't see one in either of those two spots (and you probably shouldn't) then you are okay.
