  1. All the sexually mature female snakes and the majority of the males in my collection brumate themselves without any help from me. They stop eating and reduce their activity levels to next to nothing, drinking fresh water only occassionally. They display this behavior from mid- Oct. till mid to late March yearly. The temperature and light amounts remain relatively constant year round in the area they are kept.

  2. im not sure but i belive that snakes nly hibernate in winter or when it is cold but i dont really no the final answer sorry =(

  3. *pokes toy snake*

    I THINK they do...

  4. Looks like you don't need an answer from me as Tempest already gave it to you.  She's right.

  5. yes snakes hibernate..they really hibernate in the winter

  6. The correct term is actually 'brumate', they dont hibernate as such.

It depends what temperatures they are kept at, if it reaches low enough yes they will. Brumating or 'cooling' snakes is often required to initiate breeding, doing so mimics the natural variation in weather and triggers this mating reponse.

However its generally not recommended to brumate any snake under the age of two, or one that is ill or obviously unheathly/underweight.

    Hope this helps! =)

  7. If you are planning to breed from an adult female then yes "cooling" them over winter is advised (By setting their heating to a lower temp) but if your not planning to breed then there is no need to cool and as in isn't getting cold (because the heating for the snake hasn't been changed) then the snake won't feel the need to "hibernate" and will stay active throughout the winter.
