  1. Sometimes but often not.

  2. Petsmart sold rabbits recently as a trial.  Animal rights groups boycotted the store; and the test was aborted.  No more sales of rabbits.

Before you get a rabbit, please go to www.rabbit.org and do your research.  Rabbits are not an easy pets!!

  3. I beg you not to buy a rabbit from petstores; adopting a rabbit is on the same level as buying a cat or dog: if you're looking for quality, find a licensed rabbit breeder near you; if you're just looking for a good pet, find a rabbit that needs rehoming. Buy a rabbit from a pet store and you're undoubtedly supporting some sort of backyard breeder/pet mill that doesn't take care of the rabbits correctly; not only that, but you'd be missing the chance to save a rabbit from a shelter.

There are a lot of rabbit shelters and, if you really can't find one that you're able to drive to (incidentally, you should try to get your parents to be more complacent about your new pet; rabbits are not solitary creatures and they're going to need the entire family's cooperation), check Craigslist. There are undoubtedly people around you looking to rehome their dwarf rabbit and a good foster parent will gladly deliver to you, if you offer to cover the cost of gas and all. This is beneficial also because the former owner will be able to tell you firsthand what the rabbit's personality is like, how to care for it, et cetera.

    Please check out these sites:

And make sure that you really want one.

  4. I don't think they carry Netherland Dwarfs.  Check at your local fair.  There will probably be some for sale there.
