Do petstores like Petsmart sell imported snakes or snakes bread in captivity?

I called both Petco and Petsmart and of course, nobody had an answer for me.

Generally Petsmart and Petco have captive bred snakes. Usually in front of the sign on the cage it will say "cb whatever snake" or "wc whatever snake"....

Usually a major pet store like Petco buys their animals wholesale from breeders so the snakes are captive bred. The only problem with buying a snake from a major pet store is the animals have to do a lot of traveling to get there, including airplanes and trucks. It is always best to buy from a smaller pet store that breed their own or buy from somewhere close.

no Petsmart only sells birds, rats, mice, guinea pigs. if you want to buy snakes go to Petco, a bigger pet store

They generally sell wild caught and captive hatched.

Wild Caught are snakes that have been caught in the wild and captive hatched are eggs that have been laid by wild caught specimens and incubated.

The snakes usually come from wholesalers and importers who sell them for about $10 to $15 each to the store who then marks it up and sells for whatever.

Depends on the snake. The kingsnakes, corn snakes, and milk snakes are captive bred, but the ball pythons are almost always imported, also known as captive hatched. The imports have been treated roughly in their trip from Africa and are often dehydrated and can carry parasites. They don't do as well as captive bred specimens, especially with feeding. Also, most of the turtles, tortoises, and smaller lizards are wild caught. I worked at Petsmart years ago, and they have a little sign that says all reptiles have been checked out by a vet, which is a lie. They would get boxes of reptiles shipped Fed Ex or UPS straight from the breeder or dealer and put them immediately on display with no check up.

I live in New Jersey and almost all the Petsmarts have king snakes.

I don't think they do.... You may need to call somewhere in NY and see if they may sell them there...
