  1. Piercings and Tattoos should be taken care of very carefully by ANY ONE especially diabetics. The chance of infection is there for everyone, but as diabetic we must be especially vigilent not to get one. You could also lose a hand all the way to the shoulder from a hangnail!!

Just take proper care of the piercings so you don't get any chance of an infection in them. Long time diabetics can have longer healing times so the healing is dependent on how long you have been diabetic.

  2. i had my ears pierced for a second time and they never grew up around the ear ring so if i took them out for more than an hour (even 4 years after i got them done) the would grow up like brand new piercing do and i have had diabetes for 6 years (sense i was 9)

  3. I'm type 1 since 1 yr old. I have several piercings and tattoos. As long as you clean the site often and take care of it like recommended you will be fine.

If you think something is infected make sure you get to a doctor.

  4. i doubt that having diabetes will cause any complications...as long as you've been taking care of it.  I have friends whose doctors won't let them get piercings till their a1cs are around 7 (or in the low 7 range).  As long as you keep your bloodsugars in check and take care of the piercing as instructed you shouldn't have any problems
