Do pigeons mate for life?

I recently noticed a male and female pair of pigeons that show up in my back yard almost every day to feed. My question is if they mate for life or if they pick a new mate every year.

I also have learned that it is a true fact that pigeons mate for life , my question is .... If A Hen Loses her Mate ( c**k ) ( flew the coop- no return ) Will she mate with another c**k ?
