  1. no , plants need sunlight to grow

  2. I live in a garage/studio it has 2 small windows and when I've left a bouquet of flowers in a vase they lasted more then 2 months. I wouldn't have believe it either if I didn't experience it myself (more then once). Scientifically I can't explain it just that it seems to put them in a dormant state. As for a potted plant they live but didn't grow.

  3. no, they need sunlight.

but there is some thing like hormone, that make plant grow longer, and this hormone will deactivated if it had contact with sunlight.

that is why almost all plant grow to the sun light direction.

if the plant didn't get any sunlight, maybe for a short time they will grow longer, but they are more thin than a normal plant and have smaller leaf.

    after that they die.

  4. Plants do grow taller in the dark (shade avoidance response).  But they need sunlight to be healthy.
