  1. Not all living things die from old age. Death is not a requirement of life. Bacteria and even some multicellular organisms do not die from old age. Our aging is programed into our DNA and selected for during evolution to get rid of bad and damaged DNA in the population. Please read the book "s*x and the origin of death" for more info.

    I do not know, however, what the deal is with trees...
