Do plants need air to grow??

im doing an experiment for sceience where i have to put cellophane over a cup. the cellophane is secured by an elastic bandd..can my plant still grow?? does it need air? do i poke holes through the cellophane LOL please help im lost :)

  1. Well, plants are a form of life that need oxygen. if you want a plant that doesn't require any air, you'll have to maybe have one sent to you from a planet in outer space.  Good luck....


  2. i would imagine that the cup might get nasty and maybe grow mold cause its all stagnant cause it would stop the evaporation process... or thats my theory

  3. people breathe in oxygen and breath out carbon dioxide.   Plants absorb carbon dioxide And release oxygen.  natures circle of life. your plant will grow until all carbon dioxide is used .yes it needs air.  poke holes if you want it to continue to grow.

  4. YES ofcourse Plant leaves also need to breathe air to help with photosynthesis. So I suggest you to poke holes through the cellophane.
