  1. A BIG nooooooooooo. nadal leads a fed by more more than 500 points i think (this will be officially reveal on aug 18 where nadal will proclaim as new number 1). if nadal wins the gold medal and fed losses before the 2nd round or so, nadal will accumulate more points. FEDERER might not end number 1 this year as he has a lot of points to defend especially at the US open being the defending champion.

  2. Yes they earn ranking points.

The points will be awarded as follows:

    Men's ATP ranking points

    Gold Medal - 400

    Silver Medal - 280

    Bronze Medal - 205

    Loser 3rd/4th - 155

    Quarterfinals - 100

    Round of 16 - 50

    Round of 32 - 25

    1st Round - 5

    Women's WTA ranking points

    Gold Medal - 353

    Silver Medal - 245

    Bronze Medal - 175

    Loser 3rd/4th - 135

    Quarterfinals - 90

    Round of 16 - 48

    Round of 32 - 28

    1st Round - 1

And no federer can't be number 1 even if he does win the olympics and nadal loses in the first round (people have to stop asking this question)

  3. Panels of judges vote for athletes in individual events, not on how they perform overall in the Olympics. No individual athlete wins the Olympics. The glory goes to the country which gains the most medals and to athletes that earn medals. Can Federer win medals agin? Probably, but just because he won some before doen't mean he will do it again. He could be matched up against someone he never played against before, even an unknown. Who would have even thought that a central African team would win the gold in bobsledding?

  4. player would earn points , federer wont be no, 1 even if  he wins gold and nadal loses in first round

  5. Yes they earn ranking points.

    Round of 16 - 50

    Round of 16 - 48

    Round of 32 - 28

Not sure if Federer will be #1 again if he wins the Olympics. A lot will depend on how well Nadal fares. If Nadal does well too, then Federer will have to wait to reclaim #1
