Do players should be allowed to challenge field umpires to get just decisions?

Not allowing players to challenge umpire's decision results in avoidable errors. These errors are sometimes so deterministic that they completely change the course of the match. No players or spectators likes erraneous decisions by field umpires. Does BCCI officials ignore this problem just because they does not want to imitate the challenge rule followed in IPL? May be.

  1. No.

  2. Technology, once proved should always be used, it seems to be just stubbornness that stops it, and its about time the governing bodies got their heads out of the sand.

  3. I think.players  should be allowed to challenge the umpire's decision  like it was  done in ICL.

But,by this the importance of on field umpires will decrease

somewhat and the matches will take more time to finish.

May be  the players should be allowed to challenge umpires decision  say, 3  or 5 times in a match, not more than that.

    there  should be a limit.

  4. an umpires job is to umpire the match, the players job is to play, NOT UMPIRE! i mean you dont see Rudi Koetzen walking into the change rooms demanding that someone loan him their batting gear so he can go out and bat! so why should players challenge the umpire

i believe (always have and always will) that you take the umpires decision and accept it, good or bad! let the players play and the umpires umpire!

EDIT: also anyone saying that umpires cost a team a game is a load of rubbish, if a team is good enough to win, they will still win, no matter what the umpire does

  5. Yes.... The main reason for Chennai team's loss is due to poor umpiring...

  6. no

  7. I definitely think that players have all right to challenge the Field umpires. They should certainly do it when there is justice in their side.Players also have the responsibility of challenging the umpire when the players know the decision was injust and they should also not intimidate the umpire by howling like hooligans but instead they need to hold a understandable conference between themselves.

This rule certainly is becoming a necessity because test matches and all together test series are being lost by a single wrong decision.

This rule makes cricket more democratic.

  8. No, the only person who should approach the umpire is the captain, & he should do so in a polite & respectful manner. After asking  his question, he should then accept the umpires decision, whatever it may be.
