Just curious I suppose, and do the cameras link directly to a database or something, or do they do nothing unless the camera gets back to the station?

  1. Don't Cause any trouble !

  2. Depends on the agency and the system it uses (if any).  Mine is equipped with ICOP.  It has a forward facing camera, a rear facing camera, and an internal camera facing the back seat where I sit my prisoners.  It runs off of a hard drive that I have to insert into the camera before I go on patrol and when I finish I take it out and have it downloaded.  Once something is recorded on my camera there is no way I can erase it-it is there to stay until the Patrol Lieutenant erases it.  At my agency recording are held for 30 days unless they are flagged by the Officer as evidence, a training issue, or as a possible complaint.  In that case they are held longer depending on the circumstances.
