  1. yes

they dont want any free thinkers, they want people who are used to following orders without question

  2. military is good and so is a degree. If you have a degree why be a ticket giver.

I worked as a police officer just out of the Army. I put myself through the academy and got my police certification. That is better than military or degree. It was fun and kinda boring. I ended up leaving and getting a job as an engineer later. better pay and better hours.

If I where to do it again I would be a firefighter. You actually help people rather than annoy them with tickets (city income).

  3. Many PDs add points to your test scores for military time (ie, veteran preference) when applying. Since the academy teaches you what you need to know (re: communicating, etc...), that's not much of an issue. the benefit about military experience is that you're trained to take orders and you've already got some level of self-discipline as well as honor/truthfulness.

    Calif Deputy

  4. I think they favor roid-heads with low IQs that can follow orders.

  5. no. i studied public services at national diploma and honours degree and they dont prefer military experience because they are trained to kill, whereas in the police we communicate b4 killing.
