Do police officers, lawyers , judges have to go to jury duty ever?

  1. Here in Canada they are no allowed as they want jury members to be regular citizens that do not have an indepth knowledge of the law.

    It is so that the judges, lawyers etc are not making up their own mind with out listening to the lawyers and the judges commands.


  2. It depends on what kind of jury.  As a police officer I cannot serve on a criminal trial, but I am more than able to serve in civil cases.

  3. I would think that the majority of the time, they would be recused, due to being too close to the situation.

  4. Lawyer here: been called to J duty every  3 or 4 years.  My background is civil law [business matters] so I nearly always get picked in a criminal case.  Must be the grey hair.
