Wow being a cop must be the coolest job ever, everyone respects you & you got a gun on belt & a rifle in the car & everyone is intimidated by you. Cops are above the law & everyone knows it because on days off if they get pulled over they just flash their badge & the cop goes away.Thats so cool! but also the great pride & accomplishment that a cop must have to be a helper & protector of civilians, do you feel like you are a God?

I know I would!

  1. Everyone respects them? i know i sure don't. They look like they enjoy brutilizing people. @ssholes.

  2. Exactly the temperament they're looking for to weed out the rejects.  Too many people wanting to be cops so they can get even with all the people they THINK treated them bad.  It'd end up like that scene in Clockwork Orange where they couldn't rehabilitate the thugs, so they made 'em cops, instead.  Maybe why European countries have lower prison populations than the U.S.

Watching that TV show COPS, I'm amazed at the people who yell, fight, and abuse the cops, and I remember how it used to be that the cops would just beat them bloody with their billy clubs.  It wasn't even that far back when a cop could use his gun to drop you for running, even just a misdemeanor.  Now a lot of cities don't even allow cops to carry billy clubs.  Or use them if they do.  Nope, not a very God-like position to be in, these days.

  3. God doesn't get sued (ok, except for that movie) and runs no risk of being shot in the course of duty. Stuff like that would surely remind them that they are merely mortal. Oh, and God doesn't have to do paperwork either.

  4. Close, but not quite because police officers need guns to shoot down the bad guys.  God gets 'em with lightning!

  5. This is hilarious....

I am one of those so called "cops", a Deputy Sheriff rather. Do we feel like god...NO...Absolutely not...You have to understand there are infinantly more laws we must obey...remember, we cannot do whatever we please...We have to make sure we do not infringe on anyones civil liberties while doing our job. Remember it is a job, and the responsibility of the job is quite frankly, often undesirable...There are times when the job is fun...for instance, of course I feel good when I lock up a pedophile...but when I have to take crying children away from their parents because they are malnurished and unprovided for...not fun, entertaining, or godlike...frankly you feel like the devil...

And yes Cops do give Cops tickets...When I pull over another police officer, and the first thing he does is flash his badge...Guess what....TICKET...Is there professional curtosy...Yes there is...But I didnt say that...lol...But would you like to give someone a ticket that might have to save you life tomorrow?...

    Just food for thought

  6. Somewhat,

it's an ego booster for all of them.

  7. Do I detect a just a tad of sarcasm in your "question"?  Yes, I thought so.  Whats wrong?  Still stuck in that dead end job of yours and tired of flipping burger after burger and still upset that you couldn't hack it when you wanted oh so badly to become a police officer?  HAHA

Oh, and no, I don't feel like God. Pretty close, though.

  8. Most cops don't. But it's the few of them that do that tarnishes the image. Being a cop can be a wonderful fulfilling job, but it is also a very dangerous job. If you are considering law enforcement as a career, you might want to do some more research. Contact your local police dept and inquire about ride alongs. You will find it is not as glamorous as you are painting it.

  9. Most cops feel like they are bustin their hump to protect alot of folks who couldnt care less. They work long hours in dangerous situations, They survive on low pay and bad coffee, to protect and serve folks who expect them to be there on scene in less than 60 seconds when they are called. Yep there are a few bad ones, but  I think you will find you will get what you give- if you respect them, they will respect you. If you are breaking the law it is their job to stop you.

  10. God?  No, nowhere close.  Everyone respects you? Not even half the people respect you.  Most people don't want you around unless they are scared or hurt.  I do, however, feel a great sense of pride and accomplishment.  I thoroughly enjoy helping and protecting people, when they let me.  As mentioned above, we have to follow more laws than most people.  There are all kinds of laws that protect people from the police and not enough to protect police from the people.  There was an officer, in my area, who was shot and killed in a drive up window at a fast food restaurant.  No, he did not happen upon a robbery or any other type of crime.  He was wearing a badge and that apparently made him an acceptable target for some t**d.  It's a dangerous job and you have to be responsible with the authority that is vested in you.
