  1. no they do not. that's an invasion of privacy and since they know people are idiots and listen to police scanner it's illegal.

EDIT* no that's wrong. They can't get your bank information unless you give it to them....wow don't be dense

  2. No, that would be illegal and an invasion of privacy.  Anyone can listen in on a police conversation if they have a police radio.  My dad does all the time.  They don't transmit personal information.

  3. I think thats why most police cars now have those MDT

(moble data terminals but I dont think officers will

run social secuirty numbers though the system as

as social securty dept is not part of the NCIC

they will run licesne numbers and plates though

  4. Yes and they also exchange bank account numbers and dates of birth.  But only cops and people who own scanners can hear the information so you are safe.

  5. Yes, but you wouldn't hear it.  Sometimes a name check will come back as a "possible hit".  The dispatcher may ask if a SSN is available.  If it is, the dispatcher will turn off the Mobile, and only the dispatcher would be able to hear you.  I'm only referring to where I worked.

  6. yes they can and sometimes do - but SSN's are not a good way to identify people - DLN's and name/dob's are used to get info needed.
