i saw a mail truck flying by all the cars and the cop didnt stop him, to he stopped a car that was going slower than the mail car. it makes no sense to me that certain people get away with stuff and certain people dont. have you ever seen a postal car get pulled over or anything else of the sort??

  1. I've never seen a mail truck speed. I don't know what kind of equipment your mailman drives, but around here, I don't think the mail trucks are capable of much more than 30 miles per hour.

  2. Dont know about that. I can tell you one thing there is no law enforcement officer on this earth except for either a US Marshall or the post master who is allowed to enter a US mail truck period. The officer can report the truck number to the post office or could pull him over to give a ticket but then the officer is interfearing in the delivery of US mail. It's a catch 22. What if the postal employee is drunk? The officer still needs the post master or a Marshal to enter a postal vehical that has mail in it. Federal law. Do cops give breaks to certain people? Of coarse they do. Is it legal? Nope.  have seen officers leave a bar drunk off there buts and then pulled over and brought home by the officer conducting the investigation. This is illegal but what can you do about it? Unless it's caught on tape and posted on youtube with the department nothing will happen.I have gotten out of several tickets due to my credentials and while I wont complain about it if I were a civilian I would get the pleasure of higher insurance rates and nice fines.

  3. yeaa ppl can be a little wacked and judgementl

  4. The USPS is part of the federal government. Some cops think that pulling over a mail truck is like pulling over another cop car.

  5. I've seen a couple of cabs pulled over, and a semi.

  6. ive seen a cop pull over a mail truck before. the driver was cussing at the cop saying "you cant give me a ticket i work for the city" and stuff like that. they are probably one of those things where you write down the numbers on their truck and report them.

  7. Don't believe that fantasy about not being able to enter or stop a mail truck. They are just another driver. They might get a break because the officer knows there might be consequences of a ticket that's more severe than a minor infraction justifies, but they're far from immune. This consideration is no more than might be given to anyone who drives for a living and who might have a hard time if they were cited.

  8. Ya a buddy of my actually did stop a mail truck for speeding a while back. Its not interfering with postal duties and an officer does have the authority to stop a mail man. Why this officer did not stop the speeding mail man I got no idea. The only traffic laws postal employees are exempt from are seat-belts and impending traffic if any. And on the other type of vehicles besides regulars I've pulled over a school and a city bus and issued them a citation for speeding in a school zone ya school bus believe it or not along with taxi cabs and cable company vehicles along with the regular citizen vehicle no bias on my part. Hope this answers your question.
