Is this a normal occurrence? Honestly, how often do you, as a police officer, or detective, put misleading info in a report, or put something in someone's car, or anything like that?

  1. My best friends boyfriend was selling drugs out of her apartment, the cops staged a break-in so when she called them, they wouldnt need a warrant to search, and sure enough they found the drugs she didnt know where there and she got arrested!!

  2. Yes cops do try to set you up.I seen a cop throw a pot pipe in the back set of a police car and tried to say that it belong to the person that they had in the back of the car.

  3. Yes it happens more than you think.

  4. I don't think cops set people up...though I'm sure SOME do. I do, however, think they direct their activities in the wrong places. For example, would it make more sense to have squad cars police the inner city where shootouts are a regular occurrence? Or would it be better to put them on the highway chasing after someone doing 10 miles per hour over the speed limit?

  5. It doesn't happen a lot. Just look at the police arrest records in some areas. I'm no cop, but don't allow police films to colour your opinion.

  6. I believe it is more common than you might think. I have been a totally innocent victim of that and was dumbfounded to find out that someone I would normally trust would actually do something like that.

  7. some people really believe all police set up the citizens,  plant evidence, or have ticket quotas they must meet monthly. How sad this reflects the lack of intelligent information. people are convicted because of their poor choices.

If a person uses, sells, traffics,or produces any kind of drug/narcotic, they will eventially get caught. It is a persons own fault. their choice.

people are ticketed because they refuse to obey the simplest of rules, such as driving at a safe speed, or not driving courteously because they did not allow themselves reasonable time to reach their destination.

those people who have hatred for authority teach their children that the cops are out to get them.

I encourage you to see for yourself. most agencies allow citizens to ride along with an officer. maybe one of the local agencies in your area would allow you to ride with them and you can see for yourself the situations they deal with on a daily basis. 99% of police oficers are friendly and courteous, and there to help.

note: I do remember something that led to some officers getting fired .........they would mark the tires of vehicles at bars with chalk. Then pull them over if they spotted them driving down the road. This could be technically setting someone up, but most definately unethical. It has never happened since.
