Do politicians have a resume?

I know when I go to apply for a job I am asked for my resume. Not how many children I have nor what I do on my personal time. So, we are planning to vote (hire) a leader for our country - do they have a resume? What has Obama really voted for or against in congress? What did Palin do in Alaska? McCain has been around for a while I am familiar with him. What do you think? Should they have a resume and shouldn't actions that they have really done or not in their career be a highlight? Or is it all words and media?

there is a record of every vote they ever cast. stuff can come back to bite you because of this like Obama's "born alive" vote
