I found a baby possum struggling to get out of my swimming pool.I estimate it to be no more than 2-3 weeks old.I call the city wildlife division for advice.they said I should release it in the woods. i fear it will not survive on it's own, being so young. So I am prepared to take care of it for about a month until it gets bigger and stronger.. But I know nothing about possums other than they are nocturnal creatures and can be dangerouse when cornered.

  1. release it. if it is old enough to have open eyes and walk around, it can fend for itself. A wild animal does not make a good pet...it's wild animal instincts are already formed and it will not want to be handled, petted, etc. Best thing to do for it is to let it go...

  2. thats very kind that you are willing to do that but ya cant keep a wild animal!! release it and it will be fine on its own!

  3. wild animals do not make good pets.  trying to make a pet

of this one will only result in heartbreak for you and frustration

for the animal.  the longer you keep it the less likely it will be

to be able to survive in its natural habitat.

  4. No. They do not make good pets. You have to release it. As the other answer said before me...

The longer you keep it, the less it will  be able to survive in the wild.

Release it now, before it bites you, or you get heartbroken, or attached to it.

    Good Luck!!!
