No.  The tubers grow whether the flowers are fertilised or not.

Fertilising the flowers will make potato fruit - they look like small tomatoes and are very poisonous.

Hey do not. However the fruit is not " very poisonous " Give you a stomach ache but not much else. Very bitter.

BTW, if you do get fruit try growing the seeds. That is how Luther Burbank got the famous Russet potato, the most popular in the USA.
