Do potatoes have harmful bacteria on the skin?

Is it true that since potatoes grow in dirt that the skin has worms and bacteria on it? Like if I wash them and the dirt gets on my hands will I get sick or get parasites?

actually, as long as you wash them with soap first, the potato skin is the healthiest part of the potato.

Eat it whole. :)
