Question:

Do potential employers often ask for your college transcript when applying/interviewing?

I recently graduated from undergrad and will begin applying for jobs soon. I have a strong GPA so I'm not really worried about it, but will those giving me the interview and/or reviewing my resume ask for my college transcript or will me mentioning my GPA, school and major on my resume usually be enough to satisfy?

Thanks!

  1. I'll guarentee you that if it's a corporate job thier human resource department will require it.

  2. More and more employers are requiring transcripts from the applicants' colleges.  I would say that most, however, aren't going to request them.  This is due to the fact that a lot truly don't care about it or will trust the applicant to have told the truth.

  3. It depends on what kind of position you are applying for. If you are applying for a position as a doctor or lawyer I would think they would require this to make sure your degree is legitimate. After all, a doctor, surgeon, or lawyer could not practice in their profession without a legitimate degree, proper education, references, and so forth. However, if you are applying for a less elaborate position like an office job, or a data entry level position that doesn't require as much education or specialized studies, I doubt if they would focus on your education. These days with the poor economy and limited amount of jobs available, most would focus on how much work experience you had in your profession. Somebody I knew who became a lawyer had trouble finding work because he had hardly any work experience, even though he did exceptionally well in college and completed successfully the bar exam. First you should make sure you have a very good resume, and even if your experience is limited, you could still show your special skills, languages spoken (or familiar with), good references, goals, and so forth. If they should ask you what college you attended, then you could tell them the details, and let them know about your GPA and major. Good luck.

  4. More and more companies are requiring to have a copy of your diploma and some even your transcripts. Especially if you are fresh out of college or it is a really high up position and they require certain degree's.

With the online fake diplomas, and other issues it is starting to become almost a requirement. They may not ask in the interview but it may be a condition of your employment.

  5. No, unless they are interested in it.

It happened to me! They did not reply after I sent it in as requested.

  6. Most potential employers only ask for transcripts if the position you are applying for requires a degree. Also, If there is a question on the application about your GPA, they will ask for the transcripts.

  7. Some will ask for the transcripts and some won't.  I graduated college in 2007 and have only had one potential employer ask for my official college transcripts.

  8. I have never had any potential employers ask for my college transcript - talking about your GPA and school and major should definitely be sufficient.

    Best of luck!

  9. It has never happened to me............but I have had to bring in my degree
