Question:

Do power supplies still drain power when turned off?

Most things are plugged up to power strips in my house, so whenever I go out, I usually just turn the switch on the power strip to ensure all the electronic equipment is off that needs to be. Now, I know that chargers continue to draw power when they're plugged in even if they're not charging something. But I was wondering now if power strips do the same. Even if I hit the off switch, and my computer, monitor, etc. cannot come on, do power supplies still draw power while plugged into the wall?

  1. No. Probably not.

Normally a light would show you whether or not you're drawing energy on a 'standby' mode.

Most things that draw energy while off will show a light of some kind.

  2. I know alot of things do you can buy one of these types of power strips https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_?url=...

Which will help to control which ones you want completely off and which ones you don't. Like your vcr you wouldn't want to turn off because of the clock. And they can also be tweaked to when to shut things off.

I just bought one of these ain't received it yet so unsure but they are getting pretty good reviews. I also just bought a new power supply for my computer up graded the video card and had to have a larger power supply and I got a power supply that saves engery so between to two of these I'm hoping to bring down my electric bill and save fuel at the sametime.

I think it's great we are now buring garbage or refuge now adays instead of fuel for fuel at some of our power plants. I mean the earth is getting larger due to things decaying naturaly and the fuel is running out. So this should be a good thing. We can't just stop having plants and tree either to stop the decaying to stop the earth from growing larger because plants and tree breathe in carbon and breathe out oxigen. We breathe in Oxigen and out Carbon. So we need our plant life and need to conserve it also. Thus we can't start burning trees due to the fact we need tree's for oxygen but garbage is another matter.

Ain't the world a marvlous thing when you look at it how it works.

I'm not so sure if burning garbage on a extreamly large scale would be good thou a few here and there and sending refuge there and see how it goes I guess.

Now to my understanding smoke from fires isn't as harmful as once thought it's good because it can bring rain. Unlike other things we put into the asthomshere. I guess regulating what is burnt is good.

Anyways experiments are going on right now unsure if natural decaying vs burnt is better but small scale burning of garbage and regulated could be good along with capturing the natural rays of the sun and wind combonations I like the idea of capturing the natural rays of the sun and wind. I guess it's wait and see on the garbage burning. Now as far as burning wood and or tree I would say that don't make sense since it is better to let them grow and less decay either way from burning and or decaying. And we do need them for oxygen anyways. So preserving land and tree life is better in this aspect.

How ever with our out of control wild fires it has been said controled burns every now and then is good plus lots of tree survive natural burns in nature anyways along with plant life. Either way it is experimental at this point. And I'm no expert on the subject it's experimental.
