That type of lady used to be refered to as the all american girl. How would you describe a typical all american girl now?

Ever wonder why there weren't more blond hotties back in the day? Look at most peeps family albums,WWII pics of Rosey the Riveter and her Gals.

Even the cosmetic ads of the 'all american ' are altered to show the all american girl as thin, light textured, if not blond, etc,

Brooke Shields was one of the first to go dark, even with the eyebrows.

Most of your hair ads ad tint to hair ads because "blond" doesn't present that well in photos.

I think the all american girl is the average girl who has a personality regardless of appearance. Approachable,fun loving,serious,and doesn't take herself to seriously.

the girl next door look was more about looking innocent and sweet, like a little sister - non-threatening, girlish.  it never had nothing to do with the color of her hair or eyes.

I think one can be any hair and eye color that's comfortable with themselves and has all around interests.

Yes definitely, as long as the mainstream media portrays the image of, not only the all American girl, but Americans in general, most of us will continue to believe in this stereotype.

Another thing I observed during the Olympic coverage is that when an American athlete does not have that all American look or name there is usually an explanation of the person's ethnicity, usually in the form of hypenation. They are not American but African-American, Mexican-American and so on.

Not the girl who lived next door to us. :) As for the whole All-American girl I'm just thinking a cute girl with long hair, twinkling eyes and a fit body.
