Do pre-ap classes make a significant difference in college applications?

I'm in pre-ap english and regular biology, geography, and algebra 2. I'm planning on taking all pre-ap next year, AP as an upperclassman, and probably at least one IB class. I just want to know if taking 3 regular classes freshman year is going to have a significant effect.

  1. As long you are in college prep courses and you do well, you should be fine.

  2. The only effect AP classes have on college is that you can get college credit for doing well on your AP exams.  You don't get special credit for taking pre-ap classes or anything like that.
