Well I'm fairly sure my dwarf hamster is preggo. I bought 2 female. 2 weeks later I realized one was a boy. I put the boy in a seperate cage. Well ever since they were together, my hamster was energetic, wakes up in the night like all hamsters, and curious. Now she's lazy, sleeps in day and a couple of hours in the night. Her belly does look a little bit chubby and she's rather small. Her belly use to be small and now its chubby. Well I was wondering if pregnant dwarf hamsters act weird in their last week of pregnancy? And if they do, is my hammy in her last week?

  1. When my rats were in there last week of pregnancy they would sleep more than normal. Sometimes would bite if you put your hand into the cage. Large amounts of food would be hidden in the bedding all over the cage and I noticed that she would p**p and pee in the farthest corner away from where she had the babies. But that is about as weird as it got.

  2. What weird things are your pregnant hamster doing?

If you are talking about being lazy, sleeping longer etc. it is pretty normal if she is pregnant or she has recently being separated from her companion. Hamsters are creatures of habit and any change in their habits are accepted by them only after a few days. Hence these symptoms can point to either a pregnancy or just being along on her own,so it does not definitely confirm that she is pregnant.

The gestation period for dwarfs is 18-21 days, so you can do the arithmetic based on when you bought them, it would give you an idea of when she might deliver IF she is pregnant.
