Question:

Do prenatal vitamins mask the symptoms of pregnancy?

I went of BCPs in June and my husband and I started trying to conceive at the beginning of August. I started taking prenatal vitamins in May.

My cycle was 28 days (because of BCPs), and then 24 days and 20 days. Now, I haven't had anything for 31 days!! I have taken 2 tests last week and the week before with negative results. I HOPE that I might be pregnant, but I don't have all of the symptoms (tender b*****s, queasiness). Could the prenatal vitamins be masking my symptoms? I'll test again Monday, but should I call the doctor for a blood test?

  1. It's more likely that your cycle is irregular because your body is still used to being off the pill. You'll have to track a few more cycles before you'll know what your "true" cycle is. Not every woman has symptoms, so that doesn't really mean anything. Wait a few days, and if AF still hasn't shown up, take another test.

    Good luck

  2. I would ask for a blood test.

  3. prenatals don't mask the symptoms, if anything, it makes the queasiness worse.
